Feed ranks in Eggstreme Farming are upkeep ranks. Birds that do not eat do not lay. Birds that do not drink do not lay. Birds that lose immunity and sit untreated become rent with feathers. The May 2026 demo advertised two animal feed types; community clips labeled them along a normal-versus-premium split. Launch on 4 September 2026 added an automatic water refill for enclosures and adjusted health and immunity loss. It did not add a reason to starve a hen so you could afford a golden crate.

Launch’s automatic water refill machine is a labor upgrade, not a new liquid. Buy it after white trays cover utilities — see automation — not as a substitute for walking to the trough on hour one. A refill machine on a farm that cannot pay electricity is a joke the bill system will finish.

S — Standard feed (early farm)

The cheaper of the two demo feeds is S-tier on a one-hen or two-hen opener. It keeps the white hen laying so trays hit the vending machine. Premium feed cannot outrun a bounced water bill. Standard bags also stretch further when you are still learning unpack and placement on the controls page.

A May demo patch increased the amount of food inside animal food packages and stopped some animals from ignoring eat and drink. If you played on day-one demo files, refill habits from that week are too pessimistic. Still refill. The patch did not invent infinite bins.

Buy the next bag when the bin is low, not when it is empty and the hen has already gone quiet. Quiet hens do not care that you were ranking golden eggs.

A — Premium feed (stable farm)

Premium is A-tier once bills are boring and you are chasing size. Demo clips paid more for large eggs than medium; care quality is the size lever. Premium is how you spend extra cash on output instead of on a third species you cannot house. It is not how you “fix” a farm that cannot sell a dozen whites.

When premium is a mistake:

• You still owe rent on the first chicken pen.
• You have not sold a tray this cycle.
• You are about to rent pen two.
• You are funding bags with the bank (clips show about 12 percent).

When premium is correct:

• White and brown trays already cover water, electricity, internet, and rent with a buffer.
• You are filling dozens fast enough that size per egg matters.
• You are not skipping medicine to afford the nicer bag.

Rank premium against an extra hen, not against furniture. An extra white hen on standard feed often beats one hen on premium. Run that comparison on the profit planner with your current tray speed, not with a YouTuber’s May clip.

A — Medicine (as insurance)

Medicine is A-tier because a sick bird is a silent pen. The mid-May animal patch adjusted medicine prices and made medicines restore more health and immunity. Launch adjusted health and immunity loss again. You do not need the exact milligram math. You need a pack on the shelf before the immunity bar becomes a surprise.

Do not wait for a mission to tell you to medicate. Demo 0.3.0 rebuilt missions; launch rebuilt them again. Missions are not a health system. If a bird looks wrong, treat it, then collect. Selling a dying animal at launch is an option; preventing the death is cheaper than shopping a replacement crate plus license anxiety.

B — Vaccines

Vaccines are B-tier: important, scheduled, easy to postpone while you chase a blue license. The store copy groups medicines and vaccines as the immunity pair. Use vaccines as prevention once you have more than one bird and a second color in the yard. Skipping vaccines to rush ducks is how C-tier species become D-tier output.

Stock vaccines when you can buy them without skipping the next standard feed bag. If the choice is vaccine versus water, buy water. If the choice is vaccine versus a plant, buy the vaccine. Plants do not lay.

C — Empty bins, fancy crates

Anything that leaves bins empty ranks C, including “I am saving for golden” and “the collector will handle it.” The collector gathers eggs. It does not scoop feed. The official post-launch roadmap even teases an automatic food refill that is not in the 4 September build. Do not starve birds waiting for a machine that has not shipped.

Feed type does not override species rules. Chicken feed in a duck pen does not make the duck a chicken. Pens stay species-specific. Licenses stay color-specific. Upkeep ranks sit on top of that, they do not replace it.

Practical refill order

1. Water bins in every rented pen.
2. Standard feed until trays sell with a bill buffer.
3. Medicine on the shelf, then treat on sight.
4. Premium feed when size is the bottleneck, not cash.
5. Vaccines as the flock grows.
6. Water refill machine after labor, not after panic.
